Chainkeep Privacy Policy

Effective 23 September 2026. Applies to Chainkeep for Android and iOS.

Your habits stay on your own devices. Chainkeep has no account, no server of ours, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We never see your habits, check-offs or notes.

What stays on your device

Everything you put into Chainkeep is stored in the app's private storage on your phone: your habits, schedules, check-offs, skips, slips and notes, pauses, finish lines, groups, reminders and settings. The app keeps its own daily snapshots there too, so you can recover from a mistake.

Streaks, statistics, the monthly recap and smart nudges are all worked out on the device. Smart nudges learn when you usually tick a habit from the check-offs on your phone, and that learning never leaves it. Widgets, shortcuts, the Quick Settings tile and notifications read and write the same local data.

What leaves your device, and when

WhenWhat goes, and to whom
You buy or restore Chainkeep ProPurchases are made through Google Play or the App Store and managed byRevenueCat. They receive an anonymous identifier created when the app is installed, your purchase history and receipts, and basic device details such as the app version, operating system and country, along with your IP address as part of any internet connection. This is used only to process and restore your purchase. We never see your payment details.
You turn on iCloud sync (iOS, Pro, off by default)A copy of your data is kept in your private iCloud Drive container, which only your Apple ID can read, under Apple's terms. It is not sent anywhere else.
Your phone backs itself upIf Android backup or iCloud Backup is on, your phone may include Chainkeep's data in its own backup to your Google or Apple account. Google and Apple manage these backups; we have no access to them.
You export, share or save somethingA backup file, a spreadsheet of your entries or a recap image goes only where you choose to send or save it.
The app asks for a ratingThe rating sheet is Google Play's or the App Store's own. Your rating goes to them; Chainkeep does not see it.
You open a linkStore pages, our website and email open in the apps you use for them.

What we don't do

  • No accounts and no sign-in.
  • No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
  • No analytics, usage statistics or crash reporting.
  • No tracking across apps or websites, and no selling or sharing of data.

Permissions

  • Notifications: for your reminders, smart nudges and the evening nudge. All of them are scheduled on the device.
  • Alarms and reminders (Android): so a reminder arrives on the minute. Without it, reminders arrive a few minutes late.
  • Add to Photos (iOS): only when you choose to save a recap image.
  • Internet: only for purchases through RevenueCat, and iCloud sync if you turn it on.

Your control

  • Export all your data at any time from Settings, Your data.
  • Delete a habit, with its history, from the habit's screen.
  • Turn off iCloud sync in Settings; your data on the device stays.
  • Uninstalling Chainkeep removes everything it stored on the device. Files you exported and your phone's own backups are kept until you delete them.

Children

Chainkeep is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
